Pitch Counts will be adopted for BNS sanctioned tournaments (Districts, Provincial, Atlantics, Bluenose play & National Eliminations). but not the House League. PART A A pitcher can not pitch in 3 consecutive days regardless of pitch count PART B A player can not pitch and catch or catch and pitch in the same game PART C When a pitcher reaches his daily pitch maximum, he must come out at that time and cannot finish the batter. The Pitch Count Official must warn coaches of any pitcher reaching the daily minimum/maximum level of pitches. Any team disregarding the Pitch Count rules during a game will be in default & the opposing team could be awarded the win. BNS to determine this. Official Pitch Count sheets should be kept during each tournament in order to prove compliance. BNS will supply these Pitch Count sheets. If a team has no remaining players eligible to pitch in a game the opposing coach may designate a player who has yet to pitch in that game, this pitcher may not throw more then 30 pitches. The House League (R level) will use reduced innings during tournament play (Districts/Provincials). 2 innings maximum per game for Mosquito and 3 Innings Maximum per game for Peewee and Bantam. Guys, with clarification from BNS, we will be handling the situation with the hit batter as follows: Umpires. If any umpire feels that a batter is thrown at intentionally, "to save Pitches in the case of a intentional walk" both the coach and pitcher must go, there is no discretion regarding the coach. Further Baseball Nova Scotia will punish the offender with the stiffest possible penalty. This is deliberate unsportsmanlike conduct with intent to injure and has no place in the game. | Baseball Nova Scotia The Pitch Count for 2009 FYI--only 1) PITCH COUNT- Please do not to get involved with discussions or interpretations about the pitch count. Please, do not discuss, interpret or offer opinions. This is a BNS rule and the teams are to manage it. Also, there is no connection to when the catcher must come out of the catching position. The rule states that you can’t pitch and catch in the same game, period! Whether you agree or disagree with the rule, it is not our position to discuss, interpret or offer opinions. We are there to umpire and not to pass along our opinions. 2) MOSQUITO DIVISION ONLY (Bluenose league and Provincials) - The only time a player cannot score front 3rd base, is on the result of a pitch, ie. a passed ball or wild pitch. Therefore, if there is an overthrow back to the pitcher from the catcher or an errant throw to a base, the player can score. There has been some confusion on this interpretation. Please understand this BNS rule and the interpretation from BNS!! |
