All non-wooden bats used in bantam, midget, junior, women's and senior series shall not exceed 2 3/4" in diameter
and will not have a weight to length differential of greater than 3 ounces.
The following procedures shall apply to this rule:
The bat must clearly show the manufacturer's ORIGINAL marking (length-weight differential). If not, the bat will be
considered illegal.
The umpires will be checking the bats prior to the games.
The bat rule and sanction will be discussed at the ground rules with the teams.
Rule 6.06 (d) will apply with this addition as shown below.
This rule applies only to non-wooden bats.
6.06 A batter is out for illegal action when:
(d) He uses or attempts to use a bat that, in the umpire's judgment, has been altered or tampered with in such a way
to improve the distance factor or cause an unusual reaction on the baseball. This includes bats that are filled,
flat-surfaced, nailed, hollowed, grooved or covered with a substance such as paraffin, wax, etc. No advancement on
the bases will be allowed* and any out or outs made during a play shall stand. In addition to being called out, the player
shall be ejected from the game. Further discipline may result as per the BNS disciplinary guidelines. The bat will also
be removed from the game and will be returned to the player/team upon completion of the game.
*Note that any advancement on the bases that is INDEPENDENT of the batter's actions (i.e. stolen base, wild pitch,
passed ball) stands. Only advancement due to the batter's actions is to be reversed.
Wooden bats are governed by rule 1:10 of the Official Rules of Baseball.
